New from Muhlenberg! 2026 Summer Institute

Your students might also be anxious to explore college options and dive more deeply into possible majors of interest. We’re excited to announce the Muhlenberg Summer Institute Pre-College Programs! These programs provide an early glimpse of college life and allow students to build upon their skills and talents as they prepare for their next step.

Each two-week program is an introduction to the rigorous academics and hands-on learning that are central to the Muhlenberg experience. They will also get to live like a college student — exploring campus and the Lehigh Valley and making valuable connections with faculty, staff, and other students. Topics include new media and journalism, entrepreneurship and economics, theatre, political science, and psychology. Each program will include a culminating experience or project and a half-day Career Accelerator session aimed at translating their summer experience into future opportunities through their college applications and beyond.

Accepted applicants will receive a full scholarship to the program. Costs are underwritten through matching funds provided by PGSS Campaign, Inc., the school’s alumni, Carnegie Mellon University, parents, and corporations.

Awarded scholarships will cover the costs of housing, meals, and all instructional materials. Families are responsible for transportation to and from the university, personal items, and spending money. Students must commit to living on campus at Carnegie Mellon University throughout the duration of the program.
